Interested in working with us?
Here’s more or less how the process goes each time, almost always in this order.
1. Tell us about your problem
The best way to first contact us is through text at 808.798.7447. You can tell us things like:
- Make, model, year, and mileage
- a brief history, symptoms, and codes
- your own availability
- jokes (if you have them)
You don’t have to include every single one of these, as I’ll ask for them anyway if they’re missing. This is just in case you’d like to save me time.
You’re more than welcome to call and/or leave a voicemail, it’s just that I open a case file for every car I see, so putting all the pertinent info into text allows me to copy and paste it very easily. The ultimate goal here is to figure out what’s causing the problem.
2. Scanning
Many times, I can tell you over the phone what the problem is based off symptoms. But sometimes I can’t and the car needs to be scanned and analyzed more in-depth. At this point, you got a few options:
A) Get the car scanned at an auto parts store like AutoZone and O’Reilly for free. I personally think the O’Reilly scanners are better, since they often pick up chassis codes, but I’m not sure if that’s every O’Reilly location. Often times, I can pinpoint the problem by simply knowing those codes.
B) Bring the car to me to get scanned. I usually charge $30 to take a look at it though.
C) Have me come and scan your car. If you require that I charge more to go out and make a house call, typically $100-175 depending on where you are.
3. Quote
Once I know the problem, I can go ahead and get you a quote. Sometimes I know this immediately. Other times I need to run your VIN to see what it’ll cost.
4. Booking
If you’re cool with the price, we can go ahead and schedule a date and time that works for both of us. For those larks reading this, unfortunately, I’m not really a morning person. I usually wake up between 8-9. Then I need an hour to just become a functional human. So, the earliest I usually start work is 10 am. But it’s always seemed to work out one way or another.
5. Payment
Here are some forms of payment that we accept:
- Cash
- Check
- Zelle
- credit card (but we add on a 4% service charge)
